Vinous Ian d'Agata - 01 Apr 20
Bright medium dark ruby. Rich aromas of strawberry and orange peel, with a whiff of both violet and raisin. Suave in texture, with clean and energetic redcurrant and tobacco flavors. Deeper and richer than the 2015 Castello Banfi Brunello, this closes fine-grained and mellow. One of the best Poggio alle Mura Brunellos I have ever tasted (which is saying something, because I have almost always found this wine to be - to my Sangiovese taste, at least - always much too peppery and herbal). Well done.

Tuscany Vineyard Fine Wine

Tuscany

Tuscany, a renowned wine region in central Italy, is famous for its high-quality Sangiovese-based wines. Key styles include Chianti, with vibrant acidity and red fruit flavours; Chianti Classico, known for greater depth; and Brunello di Montalcino, prized for its rich, full-bodied character and ageing potential. Tuscany also produces prestigious Super Tuscan wines that blend Sangiovese with international varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon. Top producers are Antinori, for Tignanello; Castello di Ama, for Chianti Classico; and Biondi-Santi, for Brunello.
